A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
