Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Planners groups.

Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
