19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.
He saved four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
